Let me preface this by saying something: some shows are crap. They have bad writing or poor acting, but we watch them anyway because they are entertaining. This is the case of American Idol and many other shows. They aren't particularly good in any artistic sense but they entertain you and keep you happy.
That being said, Lost is not one of those shows.
What was on last night can only be described as some of the best tv I have ever watched in my life. Honestly. The acting was phenomenal. Just absolutely fantastic. If anyone on tv deserves an emmy, it's Matthew Fox and Dominic Monighan. They were flawless.
Flawless. And the writing and directing was just perfect. Never in two hours of tv have I fluctuated through so many different emotions. What I saw last night was hardly reminiscent of standard television.
Damon and Carlton did an amazing job writing Through the Looking Glass and even if you gave up on Lost earlier this season (like so many did) you should watch it. You'll be thoroughly surprised.
And I am also so glad that I did not spoil myself at all before watching last night's episode. It made it that much better.
The Lost season finale made up for every other bad season finale this season. Heroes was disappointing, 24 was bad, and the others were rather boring, but this was good. I was shocked, upset, thrilled, pissed off, happy, sad, crying, overjoyed... I really did run through all the emotions.
I realized I just wrote several paragraphs about a tv show, but that's how good it was last night. It was better than any movie I've seen this year.
